ABOUT US

The Cool Space is a new (opened January 2024), independant escape room business created by two best friends.

Josh, from Sydney, and Daniel, originally based in Melbourne, met online across the video streaming platform, Twitch, and have since become best friends in real life. Josh and Daniel first played an escape room (it wasn’t great) together in March 2021 (they didn’t escape) but it wasn’t until eight months later when they stumbled upon an independent escape room (it was incredible) that their addiction hobby began. From then on, they played escape rooms weekly (near daily) and started toying with the idea of making their own escape rooms until the idea finally become a reality.

The Cool Space is an independent escape room located in Chippendale specialising in immersive escape room games with uniquely crafted narratives and exciting puzzles intended to challenge and surprise players. Josh and Daniel craft all their escape room experiences themselves - the backstory and narrative, the puzzles, sound and light design, and all the graphics found inside their games. Having both played 150+ escape rooms, Josh and Daniel strive to create unique experiences that will engage and amaze players in new and engrossing ways.

JOSH

CO-FOUNDER / GAME DESIGNER

Josh is one half of The Cool Space and works to create unique narratives and intriguing puzzles for their rooms.

As a self-taught graphic designer and video editor, he takes upon the creative liberties of how stories and puzzles sound, look and feel.

Josh also works on all the tech for their games, (with some help from their Melbourne based friend, Jack) from simple puzzle mechanics to more complex wow-factor theatrics.

DANIEL

CO-FOUNDER / GAME BUILDER

Daniel is one half of The Cool Space and is the builder for all their rooms.

He works to create sets that feel exciting and authentic, turning ideas into physical reality.

He also constructs all of the behind-the-scenes things that cleverly disguise themselves in or around the rooms. Things often players can’t always see, but allow for some really cool things to happen in their games.
